STUDENT ACHIEVEMENTS
One of the most important indicators of a successful percussion program is professional placement.
Our alumni continue to change the landscape of the music business through their performance, research, pedagogy, service to the profession, industry, and outreach. If your career aspirations align with those of our former students, then we hope you'll apply to join us.

The Florida State University College of Music, the third-largest music school in the United States, has consistently been ranked the 12th-best music school in the country (5th-best among State University
music programs) by U.S. News and World Report.
The FSUPE has won the PAS International Percussion Ensemble Competition three times (2023, 2011, and 2007), and their four critically-acclaimed recordings continue to champion new composers and repertoire while honoring cornerstone works.
The Studio is capped at 24 majors (four graduates students, twenty undergraduates) in order to provide the best one-on-one experiences and ensemble performance opportunities for our students.
FSU percussionists have gained admission to the most competitive graduate programs in the country, including The Juilliard School, The Eastman School of Music, Manhattan School of Music, New England Conservatory, San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Northwestern University, Indiana University, University of Michigan, University of Texas, University of North Texas.
Our students are regular attendees of the nation's leading summer music festivals, including Music Academy of the West, Aspen Music Festival and School, National Orchestral Institute, Chosen Vale, Chautauqua Institute, Round Top, Texas Music Festival, and the Eastern Music Festival.
Additionally several of our students and alums work with DCI groups including The Cadets, Phantom Regiment, Carolina Crown, Spirit of Atlanta, Bluecoats, Boston Crusaders, and Academy.

MEET THE STUDIO




The recording arts have become part of the FSU Percussion Studio's national identity. Our students learn how to track, mix, edit and master percussion solo/ensemble recordings and video productions, and many have started their own businesses/LLCs while at FSU.
We currently utilize DPA, AKG, sE, Earthworks and Shure microphones of all kinds for all applications.
Interfaces/Mixers/Reinforcements include the Allen and Heath CQ18t, Focusrite Clarett 8pre, Motu 896mk3, Presonus 192 and 6/8, Genelec 8040A nearfield monitors, Galaxy Audio Personal Wireless Monitoring Systems, QSC K-12 tops/1000w sub and three Sony A6600 mirrorless DSLRs.
Students also assist Dr. Parks as producers for numerous recordings with world-class artists such as Will James, She-e Wu, Thomas Burritt, Blake Tyson, Omar Carmenates, Andy Harnsberger, Payton MacDonald and many more, as well as the acclaimed FSU Percussion Ensemble recordings Volume One, Volume Two: Not Far From Here, Volume Three: Ten Windows, and Volume Four: the Percustary Insectarium.

OUR FACILITIES
We are fortunate to have world-class facilities at Florida State, which includes the performance venues seen below. All of our spaces are housed within the College of Music on one of the most beautiful college campuses in the country.

We are fortunate to have world-class facilities at Florida State, which includes the performance venues seen below. All of our spaces are housed within the College of Music on one of the most beautiful college campuses in the country.
Our percussion facilities are second-to-none.
Our percussion studio teaching space is wired for professional recording, and we have nine practice rooms plus complete sets of gear in virtually every rehearsal and performance location. Our inventory includes seven 5.0 marimbas, four sets of Walter Light timpani, two sets of Adams Classic Dresden timpani, and six full complements of xylophones, glockenspiels, concert toms, bass drums, chimes, accessories, and specialty items with twelve full-size custom Anvil flight cases.
